Christine Thurber

Board Member

Christine Thurber serves as the Older Adult Services Director at JFS St. Louis and brings more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, housing, mental health, and community services. Prior to joining JFS, Christine served as Executive Director of both St. John’s Community Care in Illinois and the Canadian Mental Health Association, Central Alberta Region. Throughout her career, she has led the development and expansion of housing, supportive services, and community-based programs for older adults, youth, families, and individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.

Christine has extensive experience in housing initiatives, including launching youth housing programs, permanent supportive housing programs, and community planning efforts focused on housing and homelessness. She chaired the City of Red Deer’s Housing and Homelessness Integrated Committee and helped guide the development of a community housing and homelessness plan that continues to shape local services today.

 Originally from Fenton, Missouri, Christine spent nearly 20 years in Alberta and 10 years in Washington State before returning to the St. Louis region. She and her husband, Wade, have five children ranging in age from 17 to 31. Outside of work, Christine enjoys running, golfing, spending time outdoors, and cheering on her twin sons at track and cross-country meets.
